Cybercandy haul!
I have a bit of a problem. I just cannot walk past Cybercandy in Brighton without buying of hoard of foreign sweets, I just love it in there! You can get sweets from all over the world, and they always seem to have something new to try! =) This time I picked up some Japanese Apply Gummy Candies, and Make your own sushi sweets kit, a black forest gateau swiss roll which I'm guessing is from Germany, a Canadian caramel Aero, and loads of crazy sugary American stuff - a cream filled brioche type thing called a Twinkie, a cream filled chocolate biscuit thing called a Ding Dong, and a can of Mountain Dew! I am a little addicted to Mountain Dew since I picked up some the other day at an American food stall at Collectormania in Milton Keynes the other day. It's just as well it's not widely available!
I will give the Sushi kit a post of its own, it definitely deserves it!
Here is James dosing up on sugar on the way back from Brighton. I don't think it was any coincidence that shortly after this, he suggested a detour to the Devil's Dyke, and proceeded to run up and down the hill!

Jack & Jill Windmills, Clayton
Now this was an all time lucky find. Last Sunday, after a bit of a busy Saturday, we thought we'd have a nice relaxing day in Brighton. We'd spotted a couple of windmills up on the South Downs the other day, so we thought it would be fun to try and find them. It turned out they are in Clayton, just down the road from Brighton, perfect! We programmed the postcode into TomTom, and it took us straight there. We were expecting some quite impressive windmills, but what we weren't expecting was the view. It was absolutely amazing! You're right at the top of the Downs, and you can see for miles and miles all around.
A very nice way to start the day! One day we will definitely have to do a whole day walk along there, the Ditchling Beacon sounds very promising!

Skywatch Friday: Late Edition!
Ok, this picture is actually from Thursday evening, but hey, near enough Friday! It was taken from the tennis courts in Horsham, just before I went to collect up all the tennis balls from the hedge for about the millionth time! Lovely red sunset, and free tennis courts, excellent! Have a good weekend all! =)

Skywatch Friday: Où est ma petite colline?
Originally uploaded by kipperfrog
Dorking was so foggy this morning, Box Hill was almost invisible! Apparently we've had quite a bit of rain overnight but it looks like it'll cheer up for the weekend with a bit of luck! I've just been for a long walk all around Denbies Vineyard and had a look in their farm shop! I love that place, I don't know how I managed to restrain myself from buying anything!

Space Age US Air Force Chapel, El Paso
Check out this place, what an amazingly futuristic looking chapel! It was built back in 1954 in El Paso, Colorado. The world definitely needs more of this sort of thing. Come on architects, please? =)
Darth Vader and Stormtrooper corsets?!
OK, I just saw a link to this posted on facebook - check out the latest in geek fashion - Darth Vader and Stormtrooper corsets, haha, I'm not sure I remember Mr Vader looking quite like that in the films! I'm not sure these are strictly Starfleet regulation either (mind you, the original series..)!

Coolest topiary ever!
We went over to Shoots Garden Centre in Washington today (which is awesome by the way! They sell log cabins, and rabbits, and everything!) and look what we were greeted by at the entrance..
a topiary diplodocus! Now if only we had space for one of those in our garden!

Garden in June
All of a sudden, a whole load of new stuff has come out in the garden, I think it must be all this heavy rain and sunshine we keep getting! Everything's changing really quickly at the moment, so here's a quick progress update for June..
It's amazing, the irises I planted when we moved in a couple of years ago have finally flowered!
The bees are totally obsessed with these chives..
The aquilegia are trying to take over the world, lucky they're cool looking!
Snapdragons!
Veggies - sweetcorn, spinach, onions and potatoes in there..
Broccoli, lettuce, mange-tout, pumpkins and grapes..
Blueberries..
Sweet peas
The creepers and climbers are creeping and climbing! I swear they're all growing about 5cm a day, I think it's only a matter of time before they start climbing up the bricks. The goji berry plant is getting huge too, we had to move it because it kept trying to get in the front door!
Grrr Lily Beetle!!
I spotted this thing sitting on our lilies in the garden this evening, at first I thought it was a ladybird, but on closer inspection it turned out to be a big long red beetle with no spots.. google tells me it is the infamous lily beetle. Hmm, your reputation precedes you big red beetle, I'm watching you!
Skywatch Friday: A Walk in the Park
So today, the weather was so nice I decided to walk into town and eat my lunch by the pond in Dorking Park.
As soon as I sat down I was quickly surrounded by ducks and geese who all took a fancy to my pasty. I thought I'd be kind and feed them the last little bit, but the trouble was, they didn't seem to believe me when I ran out, and they started following me about for more food!

The best bit though, was on the way back, I spied some..
ducklings!! Bonus! They were very cute!
Box Hill wasn't looking too bad either today, good old sunshine! =) Definitely a day for dinner in the garden.
