Looking forward to seeing this..

Here's what it says on the RSC website:

"The RSC returns to London with Gregory Doran’s production of Shakespeare’s comic tale Twelfth Night, transferring to the Duke of York’s Theatre following its run in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Award-winning actor
Richard Wilson makes his RSC debut as Malvolio. Joining Richard will be James Fleet as Sir Andrew Aguecheek and many familiar RSC actors including Sam Alexander (Sebastian), Nancy Carroll (Viola), Alexandra Gilbreath (Olivia), Jo Stone-Fewings (Orsino), Miltos Yerolemou (Feste) and Associate Artist Richard McCabe returning to the Company following his acclaimed performance as King John."

It should be good! Twelfth Night is one my favourites..

Rainbow

Today, on the way over to F, N & Ts for a lovely roast and a catch up, we saw this really bright rainbow coming right out of the hospital! Beautiful! There were loads of them all through Salfords, even double ones, and at one point we drove through the end of one.. I didn't see any crocks of gold or leprechauns though unfortunately, but had we seen a leprechaun, I think he may have been run over. Does digging up crocks of gold on dual carriageways count as jay walking? I just don't know!

London Christmas Lights

OK, so I can't take credit for these pictures, but I can assure you this is what Oxford Street looked like yesterday! There seems to be a bit of a 'A Christmas Carol' theme going on, though I'm not sure what all the umbrellas and Star Trek insignia lights were all about! Very pretty nonetheless.. Although we took a camera with us, there was far too much shoulder barging going on to even consider getting any photos of Oxford Street. It was absolutely packed! Nothing, I might add, compared to the perfume department of Selfridge's though, ugh! Bottles smashing, perfume flying everywhere! I felt like Mr Bean in the Allders episode! It's a shame you need to go through that section to get to just about anywhere else in that shop.. I just wanted to get to the food hall!

The food hall in Selfridge's is just brilliant! It has loads of random food from all over the world, all the funny ingredients you see in recipes and wonder where on Earth you were supposed to get them from (a case in point - tins of Pumpkin puree.. we searched everywhere for the Pumpkin Pie recipe!), a yummy looking deli, loads of huge gingerbread houses, every conceivable variety of chocolate product, beautiful cupcakes, and of course a Yo Sushi! restaurant, a Krispy Kreme doughnut shop, a Jelly Belly shop, Oddono’s Icecream (yum).. and I can't forget to mention.. designer water?!? Paul Smith for Evian, and Bling H2O.. it made me laugh! Please tell me nobody buys this..

The home accessories department is also worth checking out if you like that sort of thing! I love unusual things, and this floor is full of them.. a lot of restraint (and begging to go home from James) was applied to only come away with one goody.. a royalvkb self cooling terracotta water carafe! =) Although, even James did concede that it was quite cool, if not for the crowds, and his hungry appetite for dinner. Probably dinner time on the first Saturday of Christmas shopping after payday is not ideal for a relaxing shopping experience!

Anyway, we didn't spend the whole day in Selfridge's! We actually started out in Covent Garden, and it was looking very nice and festive too.. there were violinists playing Pachelbel's Canon inside the building, which was lovely. I guess that piece of music will always remind us of our wedding day from now on!

For dinner, we thought we'd have a treat, as we were feeling all Christmas-y and holiday-ish, so we headed to Crispy Duck in Chinatown! Officially the yummiest Chinese restaurant in London since Oriental City in Colindale shut down for good..

Pretty food!

Well I've never tried blogging from my phone before, so this is a bit of an experiment! It might work, you never know!

I have a bit of a fascination with pretty food, as you may have guessed, and I've been storing up a bit of a collection of pictures on my phone.. I think they do deserve a post though, because they are like little works of art! If only my lunch looked like that =)

A kipperfrog?

Hmm.. I've been wondering for a while what a kipperfrog looks like.. I think maybe this is it!

Well, I was looking through all the photos I've marked as my favourites on flickr over the last few years, and I thought I'd share some of these with you. It's amazing to see the whole collection of cool things I've randomly stumbled upon since I opened up my account..

Spot the Photoshop fail

We've got this Buffy the Vampire Slayer poster at home (you can click on it to see it bigger), and it's funny, before we bought it, it looked perfectly fine.. but when you have a closer look, there are at least 4 really weird things about it, and probably more that haven't spotted yet too! Unbelievable for an official poster.. it's like one of those "What's wrong with this picture?" things you see in magazines..

Nice weather

Dorking Rain
Originally uploaded by kipperfrog

I decided to walk along Ashcombe Road in Dorking on Friday in my lunch break. I could see it was raining out of the window before I set off, but it didn't look too bad.. little did I know I should have taken my flippers..

It turns out this was just the start of a weekend of lovely weather! We got woken up at about 8am on Saturday by the howling wind and rain bashing the house, which turned into a bit of a scary thunderstorm! There was a crack of thunder right above us at one point that actually cut off the phone conversation James was having, and then we had this crazy hailstorm! The balls of hail were about the size of peas, and settled all over the patio and all over the car windscreen for about half an hour..

The high winds kept up pretty much all day, to the extent that our sky dish has been blown wonky, and now we don't have any signal at all!! Just in time for 3-D week on Channel 4, boo! Apparently loads of people had the same trouble over the weekend, so we can't get the engineer out until the week after next, noooo!

I hope this is some kind of joke

I just got this text from a random number I don't know:

"Do you have the package? Once you have it meet at designated coordinates. Bring the girl."

What?! I feel like I'm a participant in a Bond film or something here..

I know one thing for sure, I won't be calling them up!

Parliament Hill, Hampstead Heath

We went up to London on Saturday, fancied a bit of exploring, so we headed over to Chelsea (never been there before!), seems very nice, it's amazing how quiet it is considering how close it is to London Victoria, but I do find all of the identical houses rather annoying! I'd have an unbearable urge to paint mine all stripey or something if I lived there! =) Too much time in Brighton..

Then we hopped on the Northern Line up to Hampstead, walked through the Heath, and used James' magical iPhone to find Parliament Hill. This has got to be one of the best views over London! I just love the contrast, you're standing in beautiful fields looking over at the whole of London, just at the bottom of the hill! The photo doesn't really do it justice. You can see Canary Wharf, the BT tower, the London Eye.. it's very cool! Understandably, there were quite a few tourists up there, and also a couple who just got engaged! We walked past the bathing ponds on the way through the Heath, nobody swimming this time though (thank goodness, I think they would have frozen!).

On the way home, we decided to stop off at Leicester Square - I wanted to pop into Tokyo Toys in the Trocadero to see a man about a bag.. I actually struck lucky because the guy in the shop was the very same guy who I bought my handbag from at ComicCon a couple of years back, and he was also the same guy who designed and made it! It was a one-off design with CoCo monkey (the shop logo) on a Union Jack design. I love it! He was very pleased to be reunited with CoCo, and said he was actually trying to find someone to manufacture more of them, and will hopefully be stocking them after Christmas, woo! I really want a new one because mine is getting very faded now! Here's what it looked like when it was new..

We picked up some takeaway noodles to eat on the train home, and a yummy tiger roll! Very nice it was too!

It's time for a Star Trek post..

Here are a few things that may be of interest..

1. Wil Wheaton was the voice actor for the Romulans in Star Trek (2009)! I had no idea..

2. Ooh.. Star Trek cereal =) Why America only?! Punks..

3. Family Guy episode featuring all the TNG actors - "Not all dogs go to heaven" - watch it here.. I haven't seen it yet, but it sounds promising!

4. More Wil Wheaton (this is what happens when you subscribe to the WWdN blog, sorry!) - here are a series of podcasts that he's doing, one for each episode in TNG - lots of behind the scenes anecdotes, funny memories and what he thinks about the episodes having re-watched them recently (e.g. how he starts to sympathise with the Wesley haters aka Yahoo group alt.wesley.crusher.die.die.die) - they're quite funny!

That's all folks.. oh apart from this cool thing, which is what sent me off on this Star Trek tangent in the first place!

Check out this stunt that was pulled in Antwerp station to promote the Belgian version of 'How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?', I love it! =)
